Hey does anyone know the British slang for skipping school (in Australia it is wagging)

Hey does anyone know the British slang for skipping school (in Australia it is wagging)?
I grew up in Australia, however I lived overseas for a while and I went to an International British School and I picked up some of the slang but since being back almost 3 years now I can't remember the word they used to use. Does anyone know what it possibly may be... all I remember thinking was that it sounded better than the Aussie word 'wagging'.
