Yeah i might be moving to australia for my senior high school year, and im turning 18 and i might be living by myself with a roommate. Can i go to an austrlian public school?

Call the Australian embassy,you should be able to attend their public school.Don't you think it would be better to just finish up in the states and then move down under?

If you are an international student - the cost to attend public school would be over 5K. Australian students are subsidized with their education - international students are not so they need to pay the full cost. With accommodation etc you will need over 15K to attend for the year. Is it really worth it?
