is the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines an accredited school in Australia?
I want to join the Australian military when i turn 18 I'm not that sure that UST is an accredited school in Australia. if not, then what University in the Philippines is? So that I wouldnt have to take another 2 years of highschool but go straight to college thru the military instead. And if they would accredit the units I've finished in UST

How much is grad school in Australia?
I am a Canadian looking into going abroad to do my masters degree in archaeology,and was wondering about the costs. I know that it often depends on the school, but I am just looking for a rough general estimate based on some of your experiences. Thanks!

It depends on which faculty it comes over, Arts is cheaper than Science which is cheaper than professional areas like economics, management, etc. Look at around 9-12K per semester, Masters is generally 3 semesters if coursework, 2years if research. Australia does not have a graduate school mentality, we do a Bachelors and then a PhD, you will find that only international students do Masters in Australia. In my Masters I was the only Australian doing the degree through 2 years of intakes.

What do girls wear to school in Australia?
Hi I will be studying in Perth for the second half of the year this July 2008 and I'm wondering what Public School students wear? What shoes do they wear? Can I wear black closed leather shoes to school? I'm a year 11 student and I'm thinking of buying all the things I will be needing here at home so I can save money.. Also, how much is the estimated price of the uniforms?

They wear uniforms. Contact the school and find out. Generally they are very lax on shoes, at some schools the girls can wear thongs.

most renound schools (with the exception of a few small schools) uniforms are manditory. in victoria a uniform is complete with a dress in summer and winter skirt and shirt in winter. leather school shoes are worn with both sock and stockings. just think a cliche of preppy school uniform and you get the idea.

so does your school have uniform?? a full uniform with blazer or is it black pants and the school shirt or nothing at all. you probably need to find this out. and only wear black leather shoes if your school requires full uniform which i doubt, otherwise any shoe will do. clothing we wear would be comfort + style like track pants, ugg boots, tshirt, shorts, mini skirt; just casual, i dont think anybody would go semi formal and wear a summer dress but i dunno, that's just my guess, i go to a private school so i have to wear a full uniform

In Perth it depends on whether your going to a public or a private school. I got to a public school and wear lime green converse to school with a bright red highlight in my hair and the teachers don't mind as long as the shoes are closed in (no ugg-boots). Most school colours are navy blue and are a simple polo shirt which will be about $25au and the jacket which is usually around $50 and so as long as you wear it you can wear almost any bottoms as long as they are navy. Most girls get pants, skirts, shorts etc from supr'e which often works out cheaper than buying from the uniform shop but jeans are unfortunately banned.. Public schools will have stricter guild lines and will probably require you to wear black leather shoes and the uniform you will be able to get from the school, and make-up is allowed as long as it's not "theatrical"

(jeans have been banned from all Perth and Australian schools) best to check with your individual school for info. or go on the school website for what colour pants and you will probably need a special school t-shirt so i would buy one just yet. You probably can wear black leather shoes to school although i don't think you will find many people wearing them, i think its better to go with slip on runners/joggers/sand shoes without shoe lases. The school will have their own jumper/jacket/pull over. The price should be relativly cheap: pants - $20-$30 top - around $20 shoes - varry but say $20 -30 goodluck! you will love it!

My daughter is in Year 8 and goes to a public high school in Perth (Kelmscott Senior High) I asked her if it would be okay to wear a closed in leather type school shoe and she said it would be totally gay. She wears Volleys (a nasty flat cheap type of tennis shoe) but I think she has been copying the year 12s so it is not just a uncool year 8 thing to wear. Any sort of sneakers or 'flats' should be okay though. Uniform -roughly- polo shirts about $15 each, skirts, pants $20- 30. Jumpers $35 +

Most wear leather buckle shoes, as for uniform aim for around the $150 mark, your going to need a shirt, and skirt/pants and then because your going in july it's going to be cold so you'll most likely need a jacket and usually schools only want you to wear there jackets so around the $150 is your best bargain. Also usually the schools only prefer white ankle socks so you may want to keep that in mind as well.

Call the Australian embassy,you should be able to attend their public school.Don't you think it would be better to just finish up in the states and then move down under?

If you are an international student - the cost to attend public school would be over 5K. Australian students are subsidized with their education - international students are not so they need to pay the full cost. With accommodation etc you will need over 15K to attend for the year. Is it really worth it?
