If you are with your own family, yes it is a good idea to go to high school in Melbourne,

I don't see why it wouldn't be a good idea. I live in Melbourne and have been to two high schools, you get your idiots at all school but in the end its you who decides what to make of the experience and who you hang around with. Besides starting at any new school you don't know anyone but by the end of the day you'll get a good idea whose, who and who you want to be friends with. I don't know if you coming from another country or not but your home stay family will be there for any situations that you have and it'll be a great experience for you.
