The minimum age of enrolment at a Victorian government school for a full fee paying student is 6 years of age as at 30 April of the year of enrolment. So you should be able to enrol your child to start at the beginning of the 2011 school year.

I want to move to Australia after high school. Can someone help me with the details

I want to move to Australia after high school. Can someone help me with the details?
After high school, I definitely want to study out of the US. I've grown up here and I hate it. Really i want to move to Australia but I'm not a very good researcher. I would like to know: 1. How's life there? 2. Where is it cheaper? 3. What kind of money they use? 4. Good colleges to go to? 5. Good city to live in?

I am in the same vote as you...I have grown up in boring illinois my entire life and i hate it - I totally am wanting to go to Australia for university when I graduate from high school within the next year and a half. I would recommend looking to this website for sufficient information: www.australearn.com They have some great information regarding many of the universities in Australia and the fees, lifestyle, and info about each city that a university is located in. Its been really helpful to me thus far! And they also have some info about scholarships and such. The money that they use is AUD...and you can find out how much USD there is for a specific amount of AUD if you just google "currency exchange" and then plenty of searches will come up. Currently however, the US has a higher exchange rate than Australia making some things such as tuition actually cheaper in USD money. Good luck! BTW - What are planning on majoring in?

I live in Australia and life here is reasonably pleasant! The cheaper places is always areas further away from the city. Good universities to go to is University of Sydney or Melbourne. Maybe go to the top university in canberra called the Australian National University. I live in melbourne and i personally think the city has a good night life and shopping. Sydney city has the most sightseeing places and parks. Just come here and check it out even for a few days. All the best!

everyone seems to be ditching their countries and coming to australia :) 1. life is pretty easy here.. everything is available to you. medicare (free healthcare), free education, public transport, cultural places, multicultural (what i love about sydney) umm... great shopping and fun places to go, things to see. its fun! 2. generally the western suburbs of each city is cheaper because they are inland.. esp. in sydney. western suburbs are far cheaper for housing and shopping then it is in the city or "richer" suburbs near the ocean... but all in all everything is at a good price. 3. we use the australia dollar.. we have coins in 5cents, 10cents, 20cents, 50cents, 1 dollar, 2 dollar, 5 dollar notes, 10 dollar notes, 20 dollar notes, 50 dollar notes and 100 dollar notes. you can also occasionaly find the new zealand 20c or 10c coin lol 4. usually the universities with the city names are the regarded as the best in that area, i.e: uni of sydney, uni of melbourne, uni of brisbane, uni of adelaide, uni of tasmania, uni of perth, uni of canberra.. but im not sure is theres a uni of darwin lol colleges are called universities in australia.. 5. i would recommend absolutely any city. when i finish high school in 2010 i might go uni of adelaide because im not really fond of the unis in sydney (where i am). im not sure yet but if i stay in sydney i would go to uniof NSW or uni of technology sydney or uni of sydney..depending on my course.. i have 2 years to decide ! you said your not a good researcher but go to wikipedia and look up universities in sydney or melbourne or universities in australia and have you read for your self.. it really depends on your likes :) good luck

A 2 unit math pass is a requirement for most education subjects at Uni. Same goes for English. Remember you only have to pass these subjects to make it easier to choose more broad electives at Uni. The main thing you have to do is get that UAI and get into the course. All the big Uni's have their open days quite early in the year, why not go along and check the one nearest to you? They keep changing the systems, so keep on the ball:)
