Is there a school in Australia that has a 1-2 year journalism type program

Is there a school in Australia that has a 1-2 year journalism type program?
I am an international student looking for a 1-2 year journalism or other communications program. Mostly all I have come across are 3 years is there anything that's a little less?

G'day, In Australia, there are 2 levels of study after Year high school that you can do. One is uni and the other is college. You mentioned that most of the courses you've come across are 3yrs, so I assume that you were looking at the universities courses. However, if you only want to study 1-2 yrs course, you may want to look at the courses offered by TAFE colleges. TAFE are government-owned institutions, fully accredited and equally recognised, so you do not have to worry abt the quality. They offers certificate and diploma courses all over Australia. You can use the online database below. Hope this helps. E-mail me at mikegun(at)studentfirst.com.au if you have any further information. Good luck and welcome to Australia :)

If you are an Australian citizen or PR you CANNOT apply as an international student. The easiest is probably UTas but even they require an ATAR of 98.7.

Anyone can apply to go to college in the US and you can apply your last year of secondary school. You need to send them your SAT score (google college board if you don't know what they are), your high school transcript, and 3 letters from teachers, plus an application to the school. But be aware, college in the US would cost you between $10,000 and $45,000 per year US.

yes if you like you can do it

What airlines accept pilots fresh out of flight school in Australia?
I am doing my commercial pilot's licence at the moment and will go on to do my airline transport pilot's licence theory and will try and get a job as soon as possible upon completion of the ATPL. Does anyone know a site that lists freight / charter / scenic flights / etc or know of any ways to get my hours up as quickly as possible? Thanks

I believe Rex was running a part-pay cadet type program; I don't think it was direct entry, but the idea is you pay $40k, they pay $40k, you complete your training over about six months then work their cut off for the next five years. I imagine if you already have some flight training under your belt, you might get a better deal or preferential consideration. Other than that, direct entry jobs do pop up now and again on CareerOne and similar sites; your best bet, however, is plain and simple networking. Make friends with enough people and sooner or later you're likely to come across something that will work for you and the person offering will pick you over others because you come recommended. Best of luck!

find contact details of as many companies as you can and submit your resume to all. my mate had 270 hours and he scored a job out at Newman, western Australia as a a charter pilot (he applied to over 90 companies once he passed his CPL). His boss gives him a free car, a rent-free 3 bedroom house and $800 per fortnight for a guaranteed 25 hours a week flying. its been over a year, hes now got over 800 hours and learning to fly twin-engined at the company's expense! there are good deals everywhere, you just have to look everywhere to find em!
