I've decided to make changes in my life and seek higher education outside the states. I have a two-year degree in accunting and financial management from Atlanta here in the states. I like Australia, so any suggestions where in Australia before I start writing to these colleges? I would like to live in a nice town, safe, nice weather (not too hot and not too cold) and best if not far from the ocean, I love the beach. Please advise. Thanks!

The Sunshine Coast, QLD is the perfect spot. It's a beautiful place, not far from the beach, with mild climate and many popular shopping districts. Only an hour from Brisbane, the capital of QLD. Also, the University of the Sunshine Coast is well developed and a beautiful, modern university. A great place (I should know - I live here!)

I agree with Alayna...the sunshine coast has great beaches , attractive country towns in the hinterland nearby , tropical rain forests ...all this & only an hour away from the state capital ...

I disagree with the two above me. You won't like sunshine coast, it's too country, and there is nothing special about it. It's not safe too. Sydney all the way.

i agree with seeker about wollongong university (my local uni). the Northern suburbs are very nice safety wise, and aesthetically too. Northern suburbs (includes Wonoona, Bulli, Thirroul, Austinmere, Coledale, Scarborough, Wombarra and Stanwell Park, which has the most amazing beach) are only 20-30 minutes away from wollongong university have some of the best beaches in NSW. the weather isnt exceedingly hot most of the time. only afew days in Summer when we really really feel it. and, as i said, plenty of local beaches where you can go and cool off if it gets too hot. my parents managed the weather well enough when they moved over from england, so it mustnt be that bad! And you may be in luck with Wollongong university, because they do thend to get very good results there for accountancy and financy, etc. and it isnt very expensive as universities go. were only an hour south of Sydney too, so if you want to chase the big dollars, the daily commute up to Sydney, when you get a job, will cartainly not be a sacrifice.

Well ANU, (Australian National University) is located in Canberra, and is one of the top universities in the world, i think its sitting at 19... Although everybody else in Australia seems to dislike Canberra, i live here and personally love it! everything you need is close together, and it is the capital of Australia :) Although with the beach thing,, Canberra is 3 hours from the nearest beach, so im not sure about that... anyways,,, go see a travel agent maybe,, they might have some ideas :) :)

Perth has the best beaches in Australia (Cottesloe and Scarborough). It's very safe and the people are generally very friendly. The weather is nice, right now (autumn/fall) the days get up to about 25°C. The best University in Perth is probably UWA (University of Western Australia) although, Notre Dame is very good too. UWA is part of the Go8 Universities is Australia - the equivalent to Ivy League.
